June 7th, 2007Homemade Chili

This is one of my favourite dinners to eat. I load the chili on my plate because it’s so delicious. This is actually a recipe my mother came up with and I must say, it’s by far the best chili I have ever tasted in my life.
Ingredients:
- 1 bag of chili sauce
- 1 can of spaghetti sauce
- 3 cans of red beans
- 1 can of corn
- 5 potatoes cut into pieces
- 3 carrots cut into slices
- 1 or 2 lbs of ground beef
- 1 onion cut into pieces
- 1 tablespoon of parsley
- salt and pepper for taste
- 1/2 cup of red and green chopped pepper
- a little bit of garlic
Instructions:
- Cook the potatoes and carrots together in a pot.
- In the same pot, mix the onion with a tablespoon of vegetable oil.
- Mix all ingredients together and let cook for 30 minutes.
- Adjust ingredients if needed.

This sounds interesting. My mom has a chili recipe that she swears by:
2 cans each of:
- black beans
- dark red kidney beans
- light red kidney beans
- great northern beans
(and any other beans you like)
- diced tomatoes
Add in a half cup of diced onions, green peppers and red peppers.
Add in a pound of browned ground beef or turkey.
Add in chili powder to taste.
Cook on low heat for 3-4 hours.
Serve with rice. Enjoy!
